Those still using Project Server 2003 will gain significantly from the advancements in Project Server 2010. Users of Microsoft Project 2003 will also see major improvements and benefits in the latest version of the desktop planning tool.
Project Server Migration Process
The migration process from Project Server 2003 to Project Server 2010 must recognise the move to 64 bit technology and significantly enhanced database structure. The process is migration based rather than a straight upgrade.
The migration process can therefore transfer all your project data and, if required, your Project Workspace data as well. Migrating your data from Project Server 2003 is a two-step process:
- Migrate from Project Server 2003 to Office Project Server 2007
- Migrate from Office Project Server 2007 to Project Server 2010
Why Migrate?
Project Server 2010 provides a significant change to Project Server 2003 and provides many improvements, both in terms of server performance and usability.
Likewise the latest version of Microsoft Project Professional 2010 introduces a number of much anticipated improvements, including multi level undo, task highlighting and the timeline view.
